Dear King Cake,
I have missed you terribly. I have been patiently waiting for your return since you left me in March, jolted by having to adjust to not having you around for breakfast or an afternoon snack. The time of year has come again and we will be reunited, you looking as delicious as ever covered in sticky goodness and your signature purple, green and gold. There have been other comforts since you – chicken and dumplings, Peanut butter cups and hot chocolate – but you will always remain my favorite.
I can’t wait to see you in two days!

Sweet yummy King Cake season!! Walmart is the best, I saw this year they had them out a day after Christmas.
a DAY after Christmas????!!!! can’t they count? it’s TWELVE days to King’s Day, not 1. Any king cake or even king cake substitute of any kind served before Jan 6 is a sacrilege, a sacrilege I tell you!
Wal-Mart is a chain, so I can *almost* forgive them — BUT there had to be some cheaters out there to buy them. On the other hand, a grocery chain that takes pride in being pro-Louisiana ALSO had them out and dang it all, they should just no better.
I will go on record now saying if the Saints don’t make it to the SuperBowl, it’s the fault of all those dang Saints cakes and people who just couldn’t wait for their king cake. Some traditions just should not be messed with and afterall, this is New Orleans – juju, karma – whatever you want to call it — surrounds us.
On the positive note — ONLY ONE MORE DAY!
